From the ferry landing, bear right and take the first left onto Spring Street. Go one block and take the first left onto First Street. Turn right in one block onto A Street. Take your first left onto Nichols Street. Mi Casita is just ahead on your right.
Description:
The large homey yellow house on Nichols Street looks more bed and breakfast than eatery so it might be a bit surprising that it’s the home of some of the best Mexican food in the San Juan Islands. A favorite among locals—many of whom come here three and four times each week--Mi Casita opened as a restaurant in 1996.
Inside, the large, airy dining room is festively decorated with South-of-the-Border photographs, plates, blankets and assorted artifacts. With Mexican music playing in the background, Mi Casita’s super friendly and attentive staff—they seem to fly about the dining room--complete a cheery, upbeat atmosphere.
The food at this reasonably priced restaurant is authentic Mexican and made fresh daily from scratch. Starting out with chips and homemade salsa, move onto the Quesadilla del Mar appetizer which features tortillas stuffed with crab, shrimp, scallops and cheese. The margarita prawns—prawns sauteed with lime juice, garlic, tequila, triple sec, cilantro and more—is another appetizing appetizer.
Entrées include a wide variety of burritos, tacos, fajitas, flautas, enchiladas and the like, all with cheese, meat, seafood, chicken or bean fillings. Specialties on the menu include Carnitas (roasted pork with onions, cilantro, tomatoes and "special sauce"), Zarapes (tortillas filled with flame-broiled steak, tomatoes, onions and guacamole), and Relleno del Mar (Chile Relleno filled with crab, shrimp, scallops, vegetables and more).
With 44 offerings on the menu, deciding what to order can be a daunting task. Consider a combination plate, which does away with much of the guesswork. Someone in your party not into Mexican food? Among Mi Casita’s non-Mexican offerings is the Hamburger Gigante--10 ounces of burger on a giant bun. And how do you wash something like that down? With one of the restaurant’s dynamite Cuervo Gold Maragaritas, that’s how.
Mi Casita also serves lunch and because many of the noon hour patrons are on their lunch hours, the staff knows how to serve the midday meal in a hurry.

Among our favorite casual dining places on the planet. My personal favorite is item #44 on the menu.....You'll need to go, read the menu to see what #44 is. GREAT Margaritas and some of the hardest working restaurant help you'll find.
Can't wait to get back there from Michigan!!!
