Description:
There is a reason why the Trumpeter Inn is listed in every guidebook and directory for the San Juan Islands. There is a reason why advance reservations are a must, why travelers change their plans to spend more time at this exceptional Bed and Breakfast.

The best explanation is the proprietors’ thoughtfulness for their guests. Upon arriving, one receives a thorough tour of the grounds with an explanation of the wide range of amenities. Polite inquiries are made as to your personal preferences and diet restrictions regarding breakfast and snacks. The proprietors even provide slippers at the door and fresh local apples in each room. You can ask about any of the local attractions and they have all the answers and are happy to call and solve any problem you might encounter in your travels. My consummate hosts were even reluctant to leave even for a few hours out of concern for their guests.

Each of the six rooms is unique, cozy and private, situated on two floors of the farmhouse. The upstairs contains a large kitchen, with a guest refrigerator stocked with juices. The cookie jar is stuffed with fresh baked cookies. This is a social place and the comfortable living room adjoining the kitchen hosts an ever-changing group of people relaxing and talking. Breakfast is a social event, and an effort is made so guests have the opportunity to meet and chat if they wish. Though it’s only a few minutes from downtown Friday Harbor, the Trumpeter is in a country setting, surrounded by gardens and a small orchard. In order to reach the farmhouse, one travels nearly 1/2-mile up a gravel road (speed limit 10 mph) through the rolling fields of the valley. The secluded location insures privacy and a peaceful night’s sleep away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist hot spots.
