Description:
The West Sound Café is close enough to the Orcas Island ferry landing and the food good enough that it’s well worth adding a half-hour or so to your itinerary to squeeze in a quick visit before catching a ferry. Located below the Kingfish Inn Bed and Breakfast, the café is small, with only 10 tables and a bit of counter space, and can get very very crowded in the mornings. Breakfast is served until 11:15 a.m. and includes interesting items such as the Massacre Bay Potato Sauté, a dish with sautéed potatoes and cheese. Diners can choose from four types of omelets as well. Binoculars and a "field guide to water birds" have been placed at the counter so hungry patrons can distract themselves while waiting for their food.

The interior is warm and inviting with exposed wood walls and wooden tables. Baskets of flowers hang on the porch. Outdoor seating is available and overlooks the water and the extremely small community of West Sound. Though the West Sound Café is known for its breakfasts, the lunch menu is also exciting. The café has a variety of items including half-pound cheeseburgers, beer-batter halibut fish-and-chips, and fish tacos. Also popular are the portabella mushroom burger and the clam chowder. In fact, loud groans of agony can be heard whenever the waiter has to announce that the chowder has run out.

Officially known as the West Sound Store and Cafe, one might wonder where the store is hidden. In fact, it’s been scaled back and now features mostly juices and wines, which are displayed in one section of the cafe.
