Located only five minutes away from downtown Eastsound, Madrona Point (Tsel whi'sen to the Lummi Indian Nation to whom it is sacred ground) offers a small peninsula with beautiful views of the Sound, a dense forest area, and a sense of seclusion that’s rarely found within walking distance of civilization. The dozen sand and shell beaches enjoy natural boundaries that offer both intimacy and privacy.
Outside of high tourist season (June-August) it is often possible to spend time without encountering any other humans. The local ecosystem ensures that you won’t be lonely though; you’re certain to run into an outstanding variety of starfish! The beach areas are sprinkled with driftwood, and most of them include a small driftwood structure or informal sculpture of some sort. These scenic areas are kept immaculate; few transgressions are more likely to gain the ire of locals than to be seen littering (for which stiff fines reflect local values).
The trail-covered forest area around Madrona Point is no less inviting. The prime waterfront real estate has attracted an ornithologist’s dream selection of birds, including several birds of prey. It is not unheard of to be walking along one of the bucolic trails and be abruptly dive-bombed by an American Bald Eagle. There are few experiences in life as memorable as the sudden sound of those powerful wings a mere five or ten feet above your head, I assure you.
Each year on the Fourth of July, Madrona Point changes gears into festival mode. The beaches, promontories, and cliffs on the west side offer the best views of the fireworks (launched from Indian Island approximately half a mile away) on Orcas. There are plenty of vantage points for all, but if you want the prime real estate of a secluded beach or cove, make plans to set up early and have a picnic dinner.

The Lummi Nation has closed Madrona Point to public access indefinitely. A sign is posted at the main trail head off of Haven Road. Don't know the specifics of the closure. It's a shame it's closed, with all the starfish along the shore it was a great hike to take the kids on.
