Arriving in Eastsound on Horseshoe Highway, the Outlook Inn will be among the first buildings on your left. From the center of Eastsound take Main Street west and the Outlook Inn will be one of the last buildings on your right.

Description:
The Outlook is one of Orcas’ oldest and most venerated landmarks. Originally a cabin, it was expanded in 1888 to include most of Eastsound civilization (jail, general store) and a spot where traders could get a fairly clean room and good meal.

Today the rooms are still clean, and the meals good, but the peripherals have moved elsewhere. They’re not missed. The Outlook has its own private beach, a small pond, and tasteful flower gardens. If that’s not enough it’s just a five-minute walk into the heart of Eastsound.

Accommodations at the Outlook vary in price and taste. High-end executives will find nothing wanting in the deluxe suites in the Bay View Building. The suites offer Jacuzzi bathtubs, mini bars, sunken living rooms, three phones for an authentic office feel, heated floors and towel racks, and private balconies overlooking Eastsound Bay. East Wing rooms offer a Victorian motif with fewer 21st century amenities. Various mixes of multiple beds are available and private baths standard.

Rooms in the main building are the most economically priced, and offer the European tradition of sinks in the room and shared baths down the hall. The most wonderful of these rooms has a private balcony with the best view of the bay, and a very real sense of the elegance of bygone days. (And no TV!)

The Outlook restaurant offers tasty meals, and drinks of every nature are also available at the adjoining bar. The Outlook does not enjoy the popularity in business circles of the Rosario Resort, for example, but it is a favorite of those who know Orcas well and return regularly. Reservations for the summer months should be made early, and cognoscente will ask for the room with the balcony in the main building.
