From the Orcas Island ferry landing, drive 9 miles on Orcas Road (Horseshoe Highway) to Eastsound. The Landmark Inn is on your left as soon as you enter town. Description: The Eastsound Landmark Inn is one of the first places you see as you enter the village of Eastsound. Situated at the end of East Sound, the large fjord that almost cuts Orcas Island in half, the Landmark Inn is a popular destination for those who need a bit more room than the standard hotel has to offer. The large condos are especially suited for longer stays on the island. The Inn even offers weekly rates. The 14 tastefully decorated 2-3 bedroom condos offer full kitchens, fireplaces, separate living and dining rooms, as well as outside decks with views. Return visitors appreciate the more modern appointments as compared with many of the more rustic places on the island. The quietness, close proximity to town, and moderate prices bring many guests back year after year. After check-in, take a short stroll to the center of the Eastsound where you will find a well-stocked grocery store and a separate pharmacy. There are many fine restaurants, a movie theater and numerous quaint shops to visit. A hiking trail starts in the back of the inn and leads to the airport and north shore. A nice park across the street offers picnicking on the water’s edge. Many guests bring kayaks and launch them on the rocky beach and paddle over to nearby Indian Island or many small coves. For a relaxing vacation, consider leaving your car in the parking lot during your stay since most places of interest are easily accessible on foot. Written By: Tom Carroll In This Category
