Description:
Ancient Western Red Cedar and Douglas Fir trees line the road that leads to Beach Haven Resort. Their boughs stretch overhead, encompassing the lane in the deep green that is the Pacific Northwest.

The resort was created by the Kimples in 1939 with four one-bedroom log cabins that "all shared the same refrigerator across the dirt road". Though now updated with modern convenience, upon entering the resort you get the feeling of timelessness. To those four one-bedroom cabins has been added four two-bedroom cabins, three three-bedroom cabins, a four-bedroom "Beachcomber" cabin and a Honeymoon Cottage. In addition to cabins, there are three "modern" apartments to choose from. With all that selection, there is literally something for everyone, be it alone, as a couple, as a family, or as a large group. Luscious natural vegetation surrounds each lodging, creating a sense of privacy and seclusion. There is a large playground for children (or the child in you) and fire pits encouraging night conversation (no "tomfoolery" after 10pm, however).

When you arrive at your chosen cabin (or apartment), the waves lapping along the ¼-mile pebble beach are there to greet you. Hours could be spent on that beach, sifting through its beautiful and unique rocks. Walks along that beach are almost guaranteed to lower blood pressure and bring about a peaceful state of mind.

Each cabin nestled amongst the Nootka Roses has everything needed to make your stay comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen, bedding and paper products are included. If anything is lacking, there are extra items, from high chairs to wine glasses, that can be checked-out from the office. Cabins are cozy and clean, leaving one to wonder; how does one dust logs, anyway? There are no televisions or in-cabin telephones, so prepare to relax. Bring a good book, or read one of those provided. Cabin #7 had titles as diverse as Hamlet by William Shakespeare and Communion by Whitley Strieber. Be sure to write in the cabin journal, and read what others had to say about their stay in paradise.

Every accommodation has a deck and picnic table. The view across the water looks out onto the sunset and Waldron Island. Watch people float by in canoes and rowboats, then go to the office and rent one of your own. If you brought your boat along, there are mooring buoys available.

At night, snuggle down in the, dare I say it, very comfortable beds under soft hand-made quilts. Fall asleep listening to the waves and wake refreshed to the sound of birdsong.

We've been staying at Beach Haven since th e late 1940s and wouldn't stay anywhere else. Simply the most relaxing beautiful place in Washington State, maybe the world.

I loved my stay at Beach Haven. I made a Thanksgiving dinner there for 4 with a cozy fire and a lively card game. I almost got good at chopping wood. Took rowboats out and put crabpots down. Didn't catch anything but we had the best time trying. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a rustic beautiful place to stay.
