From the ferry, take Horseshoe Highway to Deer Harbor Road and turn left. Follow the road past West Sound and loop around the bay. Before you get to your destination, you'll see Deer Harbor Resort. That's not it. You will find the resort on your left across from the marina in Deer Harbor.

Description:
The Resort at Deer Harbor is the kind of place that one always hopes to find and hates to leave. Everything you could expect from a top of the line resort is here, including a few extras. From the cozy bathrobes, gas fireplaces, Starbucks coffee and CD players in the rooms, to fresh cookies in the afternoon and a "wine and cheese social hour" in the evening. The spacious deluxe cottages, built in the spring of 1998, are decorated with chiffon drapes and modern furniture. A large window in the bathroom above the Jacuzzi tub looks into the bedroom. The cottages have a west facing view of the water so guests can view sunsets from their private outdoor decks, each with a private hot tub.

The resort features private individual cottages, as well as Garden and Water View suites, and three "Historical Cottages" that also face the water. These restored cottages were built in the 1930s for fruit pickers who lived on the island. The historical cottages have a lot of character, including a historically uneven floor.

Plenty of fun outdoor activities are available across the street at the Deer Harbor Marina, including whale watching, kayaking, sailing, and bicycle rentals. The Resort has also recently added a restaurant, the Starfish Grill, run by a renowned local chef. A dinner for two can be served in one’s cottage. A small deli is operated at the resort as well as an ice cream stand at the marina.

Located on the "quiet side of Orcas Island," there aren’t enough superlatives to describe serene Deer Harbor. Many island visitors miss out by immediately heading to Eastsound, leaving Deer Harbor so quiet there is virtually no noise after 9 p.m. - except for the sound of the water and the occasional deer stepping through the woods. Deer Harbor is one of the prettiest places to explore during the day and the resort is one of the nicest places to spend the evening. Guest pets are not allowed.
