Go past Lopez Village on Fisherman's Bay Road for about a half-mile. The complex is on your right and rather hard to miss. Description: The Lopez Islander Resort is nothing short of a sport fisherman’s paradise in the San Juans, offering everything that one could possibly need. The main building sits on a short bank overlooking a small marina, operated by the Resort. Inside are a restaurant, lounge, hotel lobby and banquet room. Across the road, the resort offers lodging in the form of one-level "fisherman’s cabins" in side by side units. The resort caters to fishermen, who use the marina as their base on forays into the salmon and bottom fishing waters surrounding the San Juans. On a typical day, the lounge is filled with them and conversation revolves around boats, motors and fishing strategy. The lounge is host to a slew of post-fishing entertainment including a big screen TV, a stage with drum sets, bar and pool tables. The restaurant itself caters to a little more formal crowd, with indoor seating and an outdoor sundeck. The deck is two-tiered and offers an excellent view of the bay and the marina. The menu consists of grilled steaks, burgers, salmon, chowder, hot sandwiches and the like. The chowder distinguishes itself as recommendable. Prices are reasonable, especially lunch. The hotel lobby is also part of this complex, where boats entering the marina request permission via radio to land and receive slip assignments. Between the squawking of the two-way radio and the squawking of the hotel's pet parrot, you’ll be in a sea-faring mood in no time. Also of interest is a kayak and bike rental shop, operating practically on the same grounds as the resort. A marine supply store is also nearby and promises to fulfill most boating needs.
